To withdraw money or pay a bill you just write a check.
We offer checking accounts to anyone who lives in Ithaca, Tompkins County and the adjacent counties of Cayuga, Chemung, Cortland, Schuyler, Seneca and Tioga. For people who live outside this area, we offer savings accounts, certificates and some loan services.
Carbonless copies
Our checks have a unique feature, a carbonless form which registers all the information written on the original draft. These copies should be saved and used to reconcile your statement. Paid checks are not returned. We have found it is unnecessary to return paid checks since the account can be reconciled using the statement and the carbonless copies. Proof of payment can be established by receipt from the payee or by using the carbonless copy in conjunction with the statement showing the check has cleared. In the occasional circumstance where further proof becomes necessary, checks are microfilmed and stored as a permanent record off-site, and can be obtained for a fee from the Credit Union.
Statements
Each member will be provided with a statement of all accounts prepared on the last day of each month. eStatements are free and can be easily accessed via our Online Member Services area. Paper statements that are mailed at the beginning of each month will incur a $2 monthly fee.
Member Responsibility
Members are expected to use extreme care in using a checking account. If control over the checks is lost in any way (such as theft, loss or unauthorized use) the Credit Union should be promptly notified so that stop payments can be issued. It is essential that members reconcile their account to their statement every month.
